Expert in High-Risk Pregnancy, Dr. Jon Barrett, Joins Myant as a Scientific Advisor for Maternal Care Initiative

TORONTO, November 5, 2019Myant Inc., the global leader in Textile Computing, is honoured to announce the addition of Dr. Jon Barrett as a scientific advisor. Dr. Barrett, is one of the world's leading experts on high-risk pregnancy and will be advising Myant Inc. on their maternal care initiative 'Pregnancy Reimagined.'

With Dr. Barrett's guidance, Myant Inc.'s maternal care initiative, 'Pregnancy Reimagined' intends to demedicalize the pregnancy experience and provide expectant mothers with a supportive monitoring device that enables her to connect with her fetus digitally and the concerned people who influence the quality of her life on a 24x7 basis. High-risk pregnancies, and preterm births, in particular, would be the greatest benefactor from this form of technology. Dr. Barrett's contributions to research in this field are recognized on local, national, and international levels. His leadership role in assembling Canada's first working group on maternal mortality translated into a role as an advisor for the World Health Organization on maternal health and other health care initiatives in developing countries. He is also the head of the maternal-fetal medicine program at Sunnybrook, founder and chair of the Southern Ontario Obstetric Network and the Alliance for the Prevention of Preterm Birth and Stillbirth in Ontario, Canada. Myant Inc. is proud to welcome Dr. Barrett as an advisor to the maternal care initiative and help guide the development of their supportive monitoring device.

The device conceived through Myant's proprietary biometric technology can collect data on maternal and fetal ECG, temperature, blood pressure, sweat sensing, oxygen levels, and contractions. In addition to providing expecting mothers with maternal and fetal health data, the monitoring device can share data with health care professionals, loved ones, and with other IoT devices.
